A warm welcome to all of you. I was wondering this morning about android and how it tracks our each and every position.
I'm a college student and I do daily visit to my college at the same timings. The timing schedule there is same as in work place. I always carry my smartphone with me which has Google Now and internet connectivity. The thing that got me to write this was even though I always kept my location and GPS off, it was tracking each and every position I did visit to. I was surprised. Few days ago I read about how Google tracks everything and that can even be seen on some kind of URL.
I visit to my college 13 miles away from my home daily at 8:00 am by biking. I usually carry my mobile phone with data services enabled. I was surprised to see that within two days I was notified at 8:00 am that time to go to work place which is 30 mins away. And to my surprise it was exactly 30 mins way from my home. I got to get weather updates of that area though I never wanted to. My home was automatically detected and saved on Google Maps.

I haven't saved any of these places neither of G+ but still google knows about it. Isn't that surprising?
From past month it daily notifies me about the time to get to work and by how much time I am late(yes this too). We can see that above it is already notifying it as my work place but still wants confirmation.
Is Google spying on us? If not spying and it's some betterment of technology, is it safe?In this world of internet any computer specialized person could easily track anyone position as 90% of us are android smartphone users. I think we need to raise voice to Google about it and ask what is it and what can be done to prevent it.
